Rodeo Beach Rock Formation

avatar
@christianbecerra
Is this the most overlooked beach in San Francisco? I think it might be. With its rising cliffs, obscure and unique sand, and pebbles of all colors, it’s a photographer's paradise—especially for those who want to escape from the city for a while.

This location is on Rodeo Beach (aka Black Sand Beach), which lays right behind Marin Headlands and just north of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. You should be able to see the major rock formations upon entering the beach. If you are coming from San Francisco head north of the Golden Gate bridge and take exit 442 for Alexander Ave. Keep right at the fork then turn left for Bunker Rd. Continue straight onto Mitchell Rd until you arrive at Rodeo Beach. There is plenty of free parking on the left side.
