Sprite Lake & Prusik Peak in The Enchantments

avatar
@scottkranz
The Enchantments are popular for good reason — they offer stunning alpine views of a pristine wilderness area. In the fall, in the Core zone, the larch trees will turn a beautiful yellow-orange color. It's a sight to be seen, as well as to be photographed!

This image was taken on the south side of Sprite Lake in The Enchantments, with a north-facing view of Prusik Peak. This is a multi-day hike and you'll need to be prepared for the lengthy backpacking trip to get here. From Leavenworth, WA, you'll need to drive along Icicle Creek Road until you reach the Snow Lakes Trailhead (47.544100, -120.709693). Follow the hike to the Snow Lakes Trail for over 10 miles until you access the Core zone. When you reach the zone, follow the main trail past Viviane and Leprechaun Lakes until you reach the next lake, which is the lake in the photo. Along the south side of Sprite Lake, you'll find this view of Prusik Peak. As you hike, reference the GPS coordinates to find the exact location where I stood to get this perspective.
