Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph the serene Ammatara Pura Pool Villa Balcony all months of the year, though the best months for photography are December to April, during Koh Samui’s dry season. With clear skies and soft natural light, it’s perfect for outdoor relaxation and photography. The green surroundings are at their most vibrant after the occasional rain in the early dry season, adding a tropical richness to your captures. The monsoon season (October to November), when I visited, offered a more dramatic feel to my photos.
Photograph this spot in the early morning to capture soft light highlighting the intricate golden details of the pavilion’s columns and the peaceful blue tones of the pool. Late afternoon light adds warmth to the scene, casting long, dramatic shadows across the stone tiles, while evening golden hour creates an inviting glow on the traditional rooftops.

Field tips

Use a Wide Angle: Showcase the entire space, including the pool, pavilion, and surrounding greenery, to convey the grandeur and tranquility of the area.
Capture Reflections: Use the still water of the pool to reflect the ornate pavilion and tropical greenery for a symmetrical, artistic effect.
Focus on Textures: Highlight the blend of smooth pool tiles, intricate gold accents, and traditional wood carvings for a rich composition.
Play with Leading Lines: Use the edges of the pool or pavilion to guide the viewer’s eye toward the vibrant greenery or rooftops in the distance.
Incorporate Movement: Capture a flowing element, like the ripples in the pool or the model walking in traditional attire, to add life to the frame.
