Bright lights, big city! See the colorful luminescence of the Anderson Bridge and towering skyline as they're reflected onto the waters of the Singapore River. This location is worth a visit anytime, but at night is when it really becomes something special.

This image was taken on the walking path of Esplanade Dr, looking southwest onto Anderson Bridge, the Singapore River and city skyline. The easiest way to get here is to take public transportation and then walk from the north side of Esplanade Dr.
I also recommend using maps in satellite mode when you're on the bridge so you can reference the GPS coordinates from the exact location of where I stood to get the shot.
By public transportation:
- Closest station: Esplanade (via Circle Line)
- Head southwest on Nicoll Hwy toward Stamford Rd
- Continue onto Connaught Dr
- Turn left toward Esplanade Dr and then take the stairs
- Head south

You can photograph the Anderson Bridge, Singapore River and skyline during any month of the year and it will look the same.
For similar conditions, visit this spot at night.
Field tips
Esplanade Drive is quite far from Anderson Bridge and the only way to get a clear photo from a distance is by shooting with a zoom lens. I used a 70mm lens to compress in on the scene.
Make sure to incorporate the river so you can feature the reflection in your shot.
At night, it's always a good idea to photograph with a tripod. If you have one, I suggest bringing it along with you.

After checking out the views from the bridge, make sure to visit Esplanade Park. This large urban park was first built in 1943 and contains many distinct features, like Singapore's Cricket Club, which is the second-oldest sports club in the country.
