Capture land, air and sea at this beautiful, elevated vantage point. The juxtaposition of the lush, untouched greenery against the modernized architecture makes the image eye popping — as if the building is emerging from the forest.

How to get there

This photo was taken on the pedestrian path of the Henderson Waves bridge in Mount Faber park, looking southwest toward Keppel Island. I stood in the middle of the bridge to get this view. By train, go to Harbourfront Station (North East Line & Circle Line) and then open your Google maps and search for Marang Trail. Follow the direction to the start of the trail. From there, you'll see a long flight of stairs. It'll be a 22-minute (1.4km hike) to the bridge. There are signs on the trail that will lead you to the bridge, so fear not, you won't get lost. Make sure to wear a pair of comfortable shoes and bring sufficient water. Alternatively for a shorter route, you may take a taxi up to Mount Faber Station at Mount Faber park, where you will see a cable car station. It will only be a seven-minute walk as you continue on the trail on Mount Faber Rd. There will be signs that'll lead you towards the Henderson Waves bridge.

Sunset
You can visit this location any month, but try to avoid monsoon season (mid-November to early March) since the harsh rain can make the area difficult to photograph.
I took the image during sunset when the sky was a soft, golden color. It created the perfect backdrop and it also complemented the foreground.

Field tips

I used a 34mm lens which allowed me to frame the green foreground, but you could also experiment with a zoom lens. The building is quite far away, so a zoom lens will allow you to capture more architectural detail in your frame.
Try positioning yourself in the middle of the Henderson Waves bridge. From this vantage point, the buildings will be in the center of your photo, with the bottom half of your photo being the forest and the top half being the sky.
Use an f-stop of 8 and above to capture details in the frame and make use of proper exposure, as the sky could still be bright during sunset.
