Aspire Park

This image was taken in Aspire Park, which is in the southern district of Baaya in Doha. To get here, you can either drive and park your car near the Hyatt Plaza, take a rideshare car or take public transportation. If you're using public transportation, take the Gold Line on the Metro and get off at Al Aziziyah. Head northwest toward the park and then reference the GPS coordinates to see the exact place I stood to take the photo. When you arrive at the GPS coordinates, you should be near the hill that's in front of the skate park. Find 2-3 trees that align with the sunset and then snap your photo! Please note: even though it's not an explicit rule, cameras (like a hybrid or DSLR) are not welcomed. To comply with security and avoid any issues, bring a compact camera or just take photos with your mobile phone.

You can photograph a similar perspective of Aspire Park during any month of the year. In the summer, it'll be extremely hot, so prepare accordingly.

The park is always striking to photograph, but during sunrise and sunset, the light will be at its best. This particular shot was taken at sunset. I recommend avoiding midday because the sun will be very high and the colors and shadows won't be as dimensional.

A normal focal length lens (57mm) will be best at this spot. If your lens is too narrow or too wide, it could distort the image.

If you're visiting at sunset or sunrise, experiment with the way in which the sun shines through the trees.

Try to add silhouettes into your composition to breathe some life into the frame.

You can also walk over to The Torch hotel or you can get some shopping done (and ride a Venice-style gondola!) at the Villaggio Mall.
