When I awoke on the morning of this shoot, there were heavy clouds in the sky and it was sprinkling quite a bit. Despite being tired, I decided that I should still go for a drive and see what I could find — boy, did it pay off! As is often the case with photography, the key to getting the shot is simply being in position at the right time and this captivating sunrise scene was no exception.

This image of Mount Wilson was taken right near the Red Rock Canyon welcome sign, which is located along Red Rock Canyon Road (also known as Highway 159).
The GPS coordinates I've included are exactly where I was standing when I took this northwest-facing shot of the mountain. There's a decent sized pull-off on the side of the road where you can park just about any vehicle without concern.
