Stand here and you'll be staring up at the world's largest Masonic Temple. Consistent with many of Detroit's historic buildings, the temple was designed in a neo-gothic architectural style and largely constructed using limestone.

This image was shot in front of the Detroit Masonic Temple, which is located in the Cass Corridor of Detroit at 500 Temple Street. The easiest way to get here is by driving and then walking to the temple. The GPS coordinates will put you directly in front of the main entrance where I took the featured shot.

Night
The front entrance to the Masonic Temple is unaffected by the seasons — although a dusting of snow during the winter could make for an even more dramatic shot.
The temple is a sight to behold at any time of the day, but nightfall is when the building's neo-gothic designs really come to life with exterior lighting that accentuates the limestone tower and an orange glow that emanates through all of the windows.
Field tips
Be aware of your surroundings at this location when carrying around expensive camera gear at night. Always keep an eye on your things, be safe and bring someone with you.
I used an ultra wide-angle lens (14-24mm at 16mm) to capture the staircase, which leads your eye up to a commanding view of the tower.
I recommend using a tripod to ensure a sharp, low-noise exposure that properly captures the intricate details of the temple's architecture.
