On the site of Japan's oldest, and most visited temple, is a towering five-story pagoda that looms just behind the temple's main hall. At night the pagoda is illuminated, casting a brilliant blaze of crimson against the dark night sky. It is one of the only remaining pagodas that still stand in Tokyo and helps to tell the story of the city's centuries of tradition.
