Take a deep breath. The scene is overwhelming, and you'll need a minute to drink it all in. Amid the hushed silence of the ancient cedar forest stands a row of more than 200 trees stretch that unfold in front of you for roughly 500 meters. The atmosphere is supremely solemn and a living embodiment of just how powerful nature can be.

This photo of the cedar trees was taken near Togakushi Shrine in Nagano, Japan. There is a local bus service from JR Nagano Station.
Take Nagano-Togakushi Line for Togakushi Kogen via Loop Bridge from bus stop No. 7 of Nagano Station (in front of Arpico Kotsu Bus Nagano Station General Information Center). You can either get off at Togakushi Naka-sha (for Naka-sha entrance) or Togakushi Oku-sha (for Oku-sha entrance).
Please note that the bus does not stop at Oku-sha bus stop during the winter because it is bound for Togakushi Ski Resort. You can stop at Naka-sha and walk or take a cab to the Oku-sha entrance.
It is a 15-30 minute walk from the Togakushi Oku-sha entrance to the cedar trees. After passing the red Zuishinmon gate, you will see a row of cedar trees.
