On a foggy night, I love the way this hotel sign beams with barely any sight of a building beneath it. The lower the fog, the creepier the city feels and as big as Chicago is, it does get quiet at night — giving you many opportunities to shoot empty streets and train stations. I also enjoy shooting with the juxtaposition of the bright neon sign and the bronze horse statue. It creates such a cool image.

This image of The Bowman statue and The Congress Plaza Hotel neon sign was taken on the south corner of E Congress Plaza Dr & E Congress Parkway.
Since it was midnight, I just drove my car to the GPS coordinates and then left it there — nobody was around and I wasn't going far. Once you get to the location face southwest and you'll see the statue and neon sign in the background.
By subway:
- Closest station: Van Buren Street (ME or SSL Lines)
- Turn right toward E Congress Pkwy/East Ida B. Wells Drive and take the stairs
- Turn left toward E Congress Pkwy/East Ida B. Wells Drive
- Turn right onto E Congress Pkwy/East Ida B. Wells Drive
