Garden Hill, located in between Sham Shui Po and Shek Kip Mei, is a small hill with a steep climb. Make your way to "Mei Ho House" and walk along the path next to it to the back of the building to find stairs leading up to the top. It will take about 10 minutes, but it's well worth the effort. Once there, do explore around the hill, walking around to using the paths to get different vantages of Kowloon.
By MTR:
- Closest MTR Station: Sham Shui Po (Tsuen Wan Line)
- Take “Exit D2”
- Walk down Kwelin Street until you hit Castle Peak Road
- Turn left then right and across the Tai Po Road towards Mei Ho house.
- Take the little path on the side of the house towards the back and climb the stairs all the way to the top
Tips
When to go
Best season
All months
Best time
Late afternoon, Sunset
All months of the year are suitable to photograph from atop the hill, but I recommend going during the colder months because it’s cooler to climb, there aren't that many mosquitos and the humidity is low.
This is a really great spot for sunset. As it sets behind Kowloon city the colors that are given off are amazing.
Field tips
This place requires a bit of a climb to get to the top so plan accordingly.
Having a sturdy tripod will help you capture the sunset.
I was lucky to have someone sitting still right under the tree, with the sun setting in the background. Explore around to find your perfect composition.
This is also a great place to fly a drone as you're able to take off and fly directly over the most dense part of Hong Kong.
