This photo of Upper Waikani Falls, also known as Three-Bears Falls, was taken from an easily-accessible trail right off the Road to Hana. To get here, head down Hana Highway towards Hana. The trailhead to the waterfall is about a half-mile past Mile Marker 19. The waterfall is visible directly from the road — there is a very small turnout on a bridge that looks down into the falls. To hike down, drive about 1/10th of a mile past the waterfall. There is a larger turnout with places to park on either side of the road. Be careful, as you'll need to walk back towards the waterfall along the narrow, winding road with no shoulder. Once back above the falls, there is a trail down to the pool on the northeast side of the bridge. The beginning of the trail is super steep and slippery and requires a bit of a scramble down, so take it slow and practice common sense safety precautions. After the initial descent, the trail is an easy trek down to the pool. The photo was taken on the right side of the falls.
