When to go
Best season
April, May, June, July, August, September, October
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
To capture the trees with their leaves still in tact, I recommend visiting Herzogstuhl in the late spring, summer or early fall.
You can visit all year, but in the winter, the trees will be bare.
The best conditions for this locations are on a foggy day when there's a soft light coming through the clouds.
With harsh sunlight, you'll run the risk of having harsh shadows in your shot.
Field tips
Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.
Since the house is the main focal point, it's important that it's in the center of your frame.
Take as many photos as you can so you can pick your favorite composition in post processing. It's much easier to choose from a lot of photos, than to be limited by a few shots.
I wanted to be at-level with the house, but you can also fly above the structure for another perspective.
