When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
I prefer to photograph Theaterplatz, Hausmannsturm, Semperoper, Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and Katholische Hofkirche during the spring, but you can find similar conditions year round.
Visit this place during the day to get the most of the natural light.
Field tips
Follow local drone regulations and permit requirements. In Germany, you're required to have insurance and an address on your drone if it weighs more than 250g (approx. 0.5 lbs). Please also note that a special permit is necessary to fly your drone here since some parts of the old town are within 5km of an airport.
Scope out the area and pre-plan your focal points. Use Google Maps in 3D view to see what angles you can get once you launch your drown from Neumarkt.
Try to have Theaterplatz in the middle of your shot to balance out the surrounding architecture.

Do nearby
I recommend walking around to find more old architecture and buildings that were destroyed, and then renovated, after World War II.
Check out the nearby Dresden Transport Museum and the beautiful Brühlschen Garten for some nature shots.
