Break up architectural repetition by adding a model in the front of this large government building. Along the cobblestone streets, a subject will stand out and give your photo an aesthetically pleasing focal point.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
You can photograph The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur) year round.
Visit this location during the day to capture natural lighting conditions. As this is a federal building, I recommend photographing the façade on the weekends to find it less busy and more relaxed when taking your photo.

Field tips

I used a wide-angle Moment Lens attachment on my iPhone, but if you're shooting with a camera, I recommend bringing a wide-angle lens. You're right in front of the building, so a wide-angle lens will allow you to capture a good amount of the façade.
I really try to focus on having straight lines in my photos — especially when there's an emphasis on the architecture. If you can't get perfectly straight lines, you can always edit in post processing.
Align yourself with the front door of the building to create a sense of symmetry and then have your model walk in from the side of the image for an unexpected focal point.

Do nearby

I recommend visiting the Hamburger Bahnhof, which is a 6-minute walk from this location. The contemporary art museum used to be an old train station that's since been converted into a public museum.
You can also visit The Wet Collections at the nearby Natural History Museum. I have another photo location there and it's truly a one-of-a-kind room!
