Julma Ölkky Suspension Bridge

avatar
@hugoraphy
Upon arriving, you'll be greeted with an incredible open rock landscape, and, if the waters are still, a gorgeous reflection of the suspension bridge. It's a perfect place for suspension bridge photography, a very unique place in Finland. It's also peaceful; it's unlikely you'll encounter many people. (before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.)

This photo is of the Julma Ölkky suspension bridge, which is on the trail of "Ölökyn ylitys" (a 5km loop trail). It's essentially in the middle of the three-hour trail, so it takes about 1.5 hours to reach it. The trail starts at Julma-Ölkyn pysäköintialue parking lot. Just type this address into your navigator of choice: Julma-Ölkyntie 86, Kuusamo. Once you've arrived at the parking lot, you'll quickly see signs. Just start going in the direction where it says "Ölökyn ylitys". The trail is marked with orange dots and many recommend doing the trail clockwise. The trail is very challenging—it is the second most challenging in Hossa National Park. There are lots of ups and downs on the trail. But after around 2.5km, you'll reach the suspension bridge and its amazing views. I perfectly framed the composition and gave the controller of my drone to dad, who pressed the shutter.
