Relying on the water from the River Thames, this beach reveals itself at low tide. The visibility of the rock and glass-covered shore combined with the soft illumination of Southwark Bridge and The Shard at blue hour is pure gold!

This image of the River Thames, Southwark Bridge and The Shard was taken along Paul's Walk Beach, which is next to Millennium Bridge. The easiest way to get there is by taking public transportation and then walking about six minutes. By public transportation: - Closest station: Mansion House (via Circle or District Line) - Head west on Queen Victoria St toward Great Trinity Ln - Turn left onto Peter's Hill - Take the stairs - Turn left onto Paul's Walk Note: This beach is only accessible at low tide, so make sure you check the tide times before visiting: https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/london-bridge-tower-pier-tide-times.

Blue Hour
The River Thames, Southwark Bridge and The Shard can be photographed from Paul's Walk Beach during any month of the year.
You really need to plan this shot ahead of time as it only works at low tide (check the website for tide times: https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/london-bridge-tower-pier-tide-times). You'll have about one hour before low tide to explore and find your composition — plan accordingly. I always favour blue hour at this location because the city lights will be on and they offer a great opportunity to capture a reflection in the river.

Field tips

The beach is littered with old broken bottles and metal rods so be careful where you walk.
If you decide to go for a low angle, watch the waves as your gear and shoes could get wet. It's also quite muddy here!
Two tools to help smooth out the water will be an ND filter and a tripod. I recommend bringing both.
In my opinion, a wide-angle lens (around 24mm) will work best so you're able to incorporate the architecture and river into your shot.

Do nearby

Be on the lookout for treasure hunters that are searching for old artifacts that've been washed up on the shore.
Since Paul's Walk is a central spot, you'll have a lot of pubs and restaurants nearby, like Northbank, to choose from.
