Lillywhites view of Piccadilly Circus

Hidden inside a retail store, this unexpected vantage point has one of the best views of the "Times Square of London." Capture the bustling shoppers, larger-than-life illuminated advertisements and red buses zooming through the streets.

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Night
You can photograph this view of Piccadilly Circus during any month of the year.
I prefer to photograph this view at night, as you'll be able to capture the glow from the giant billboards outside. However, photographing at night also means you'll need a longer exposure time — but you can't use a tripod here. Instead, bump up the ISO.

Field tips

If security sees you using a tripod, they will ask you to leave. Security will also ask you to leave if you spend too long by the window. You can tell them you're there for an Instagram shot and there shouldn't be too much of a problem, but if there is, be respectful and leave the store.
To avoid reflections from the windows, use a lens skirt and/or a polarizer.
As you're shooting through the glass, the windows can get really dirty. Make sure you're not focusing on the foreground (glass) and instead focus on the background. Be prepared to do some clean up in post-processing.
