When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
The first and second week of may will be the peak season at the house along Canning Place. The flowers on the vines will be at their brightest and most lush during this time.
You can photograph the house at any hour of the day, but make sure that it's slightly overcast. If the lighting is too harsh, you could have contrasting shadows, with one side of the house looking dark and the other looking too bright.
Field tips
Symmetry is very important here so focus on making sure that your photo is aligned. If it's not straight in the original image, you can edit in post-processing. My favorite tool to straighten my images is called SKRWT.
For a sense of scale, incorporate the entire tree shape, as well as the top and bottom (even the stairs) of the house.
If you'd like to add a human element to further capture the lifestyle of Kensington residents, be patient and wait for someone to walk by in your frame.
