I took this photo on the rooftop of the Shimao Riviera Garden Living apartment complex. This is a private residence, so I recommend staying there or to be a guest of someone in the building. Once you're at the building, find the Northern District complex, then make your way to Building 3 by following the signs. Go to the exit at building three and walk up the stairs to the roof. Stay on the lower platform and do not attempt to climb the ladder — it can be dangerous! Avoid bringing bulky camera equipment such as professional gear, tripods, and backpacks — the guards may ask you to leave. You can find similar conditions on the Shimao Riviera Garden Living rooftop year round. Since it's an outside location, I recommend visiting in the spring — without the summer heat and winter cold.

Visit this place in the afternoon when the bright daytime sunlight has softened and there is a subtle glow from the building lights.

Be respectful of the complex's security personnel, rules and residents.

Enjoy the view, but do not climb on the ladder! It is very dangerous to access the top portion of the roof.

The cityscape here is beautiful. I framed the most prominent towers in the center of my frame, but definitely experiment by zooming in and out and find your own unique angle.

Inside the complex, there are beautiful gardens to enjoy. There are also more green areas around the nearby Yancong Square. It's a busy area — filled with restaurants and hotels — so explore!
