When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day
It's (almost) always sunny in Los Angeles, so as long as the forecast calls for some of our signature sunshine you'll be able to capture these beautiful positive sloping shadows.
If you're looking for direct sunlight, visit in the morning since this is an eastern facing wall. If you'd like more even and less harsh light without the shadows, or to utilize a reflector on your model, visit sometime after 2pm.
Field tips
Since this wall is directly in front of parking spaces you may not be able to get a full body shot, so don't worry about bringing a super wide-lens. Instead, focus on portraits of your subject from the waist up and work with the tight space provided.
If you happen to snag a parking spot directly in front of this wall, you can use your car as a makeshift tripod for some self portraits!
Lastly, don't feel self conscious about doing a photoshoot in the parking lot of a Shake Shack. This is West Hollywood, baby! No one thinks it's a strange or weird sight here. We've seen photoshoots or filming in significantly weirder places.
