When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Since this is an interior photograph, and Tartine Manufactory is open year round, any month is good to take photos.
With lots of huge warehouse windows, Tartine Manufactory looks very different depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
Come on an overcast day if you want soft, diffused light or on a sunny day (like I did) for warm tones, deep shadows and lots of contrasting light.
Field tips
This is a very popular place, so keep that in mind if you want to get an empty interior shot. You'd be best to get there as soon as they open at 8AM and don't forget to make a reservation to ensure you can get a table.
The restaurant is filled with lots of detail and many straight lines. Make sure that when you're taking your photo, all of the leading lines are symmetrical.
Consider how much of the decor you want to include and how to compose your shot. With the wooden tables, marble counters and hanging paper lanterns, looking like floating balloons festooned across the soaring high ceiling, the photographic opportunities are almost endless in this large space.
Take a wander around the space because you'll find lots of interesting places to shoot additional images. The semi-industrial scale of this place is great for photographic inspiration.

Do nearby
I highly recommend that while you're at the restaurant, you try their delicious bread. They're famous for it and it definitely lives up to the hype!
Visit Sightglass Coffee, which is just three blocks away from this location. Grab some coffee to go and then take a stroll through Mission District to take in the famous architecture, but be warned — it's a hilly walk, meaning you can also count it as a workout (win, win).
