Fort Point is a historic military base and remains one the closest places you can get to the iconic Golden Gate bridge. On the right evening, you'll find gnarly water swells and a band of local surfers tackling the rough coastline under the bridge. Breakneck rocks demand only the best surfs to seek the challenge.

This photo of the Golden Gate Bridge was taken at the base of the Fort Point Historic Site.
There are plenty of parking spots on Marine Drive where Fort Point is on, but the closest one to the spot is Fort Point's own parking lot (37.810288, -122.476535). I recommend parking your car there. You can then walk up and get access to this viewpoint. It will only take a minute.
Fort Point Historic Site is open from 10:00 to 17:00 but the parking area is accessible at all times, as is this viewpoint.
