Although a bit of a drive out of Los Angeles into the hillsides, this viewpoint is one-hundred-percent worth the endeavor. As you crest over the hill, you'll find a set of the perfectly placed road—almost looking like a horseshoe! Sometimes, I wonder when people build these roads if they had the photographer in mind!

I took the featured image on an overlook that has a perfect view of Grimes Canyon Road.
Follow Grimes Canyon Rd and pull over at the side of the road at the GPS coordinate (which sits above the curve as seen in the featured image). You will find a small path leading to the overlook.
Walk down the path and you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world, away from the city, with only nature and car sounds around!
