The featured image was taken at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad and is of the Tecolote® Giant Ranunculus plant — one of the finest strains of ranunculus plants in the world. This unique blossom is also known as a Persian Buttercup or Ranunculus Asiatic.
These flowers can be found in the fields. They’re divided by colors (red, orange, yellow, white, pink, multicolors, etc).
To avoid long lines buy your entrance ticket online.
You can wander around (suggested) or take a wagon ride that circles the property. As you go around the rectangular field, at the top, you can get out, walk around, and take photos. It's a great opportunity to get some up close shots, and really soak it all in.
*DO NOT go off trail or damage the flowers.*
