This breathtaking dammed lake is mostly undiscovered by the rest of the world — especially when you search for it online. The pristine turquoise water is placed in the Verwall Group alps just south of the famous St. Anton Am Arlberg, which is known as "the cradle of alpine skiing." Take a scenic bike ride or walk along the curving road for panoramic views in a quiet setting.

This image was taken on the northeast side of the Kartellspeicher lake, which eventually leads to the mountain house called Darmstädter Hütte.
At St. Anton, you'll have to hike into the Moostal towards Darmstädter Hütte (47.053261, 10.246438). If you're doing this by foot, it'll take about two and a half hours, otherwise you can easily rent eBikes (like I did for this photo) in St. Anton. Riding a bike makes it faster (around 45min) — and it's more fun, too! The way back will also be a lot easier on a bike.
Whether on foot or bike, reference the GPS coordinates and you'll be able to reach the exact spot where I stood for this south-facing view of the water and curving road.
